Apple iMac 21.5” Hard Drive Upgrade to Solid State Drive – Repaired
Issue with Laptop:
Customer came in with a 2011 Apple iMac. He claimed that the iMac was working, but was very slow to save and open very large files. He had already upgraded to 16GB of memory, but the speed was still not to his liking.
The customer had heard about solid state drives and was interested in upgrading.
We did a hardware test on the iMac and there was no issues with the iMac itself. We also tested the drive and it was 100% healthy. The standard HDD was just not fast enough for the customer.
We will go ahead and remove the standard HDD and install a new 500GB Samsung EVO 850 SSD.
We replaced the stock 500GB HDD with a super fast 500GB Samsung EVO 850 SSD. We cloned the customers drive to the new drive, so all the data and applications transferred over to the new drive with no issues.
The customer had his computer back working SUPER fast the following day. The difference in speed was so impressive that we brought in his 2010 MacBook Pro the following day and upgraded the hard drive on that machine as well.
Total Cost of Repairs:
